Bayview Hall - The Next Generation
The Bayview Hall is an icon of our cummunity's willingess to invest in itself. Built in 1927 on donated land with donated labor and materials, it is a gift to our generation from South Whidbey's earlier residents. In that spirit, it remains in public ownership and continues to provide a vital and central role in the events of South Whidbey.
Years of activity at the hall have been diverse and festive, but they have also taken their toll. In terms of deferred maintenance, the hall is long overdue for a 80 year tune-up. In addition, the increased activity at Bayview Corner and the widening of Bayview Road have changed the way in which we use the hall. The Hall is at a crossroads. Without help, it will continue to deteriorate. Instead, this gem deserves our generosity and attention. By choosing to invest in its continued health and service to the community, we honor the gift of our elders, enjoy it as our own, and pass it on to generation to come.

A New Perspective
This is the proposed view of the hall as seen from the North side while standing on Bayview Road (adjacent to the gravel market area). The two-story foyer is in the foreground with the new main entry and the service wing (bathrooms, hall, and stairwells) directly beside. A roof-top terrace over most of the addition allows for viewing, fresh air, and the preservation of natural light into the hall's interior.
